Terms & Conditions

The Scot Box is a registered food business with The City of Edinburgh Council. We have completed a Level 1 Food Hygiene and Safety accredited course to ensure we are compliant with the law and regulations around food safety.

We aim to make your online shopping experience as efficient and enjoyable and have worldwide shipping options available to get your order to you as quickly and as safely as possible. 

Due to our commitment to reducing packaging as far as possible and our express delivery options, we highly recommend that these boxes are sent directly to the recipient. 

Box Presentation:

We aim to cut down on as much unnecessary packaging as possible. The Scot Box contents will be packed in one Postal box with recipient address, a Scot Box Sticker and a fragile or handle with care label placed directly on the box. For this reason, we highly recommend sending a box DIRECTLY to your recipient, rather than to yourself as the above information will be displayed on the box. 

A hamper is not included in any of The Scot Boxes we provide.

Food Allergens & Intolerances:

Attention customers with food allergies. Please be aware that the foods we dispatch may contain or come into contact with common allergens, such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish or wheat.

Every food item we ship will contain ingredient and nutritional information on its packaging. Please read carefully before consuming. For additional information on the food products ingredients, please contact the corresponding manufacturing company directly.

We will not be liable for adverse reactions to food consumed from our boxes or other items an individual may come into contact with while eating any of the products included in our boxes.

Domestic Shipping

All our orders are packed in our Edinburgh unit to a high standard. The items aim to be processed within 2 working days but during busy periods this may take up to 4 working days. Domestic parcels will be shipped via the Royal Mail service you choose at checkout and delivery can take around 2-4 days, however during busy periods this may take longer. For items ordered on a Friday, they will be processed on the next working day. You will be notified by email once your items have been dispatched. 

Please note this delivery is untracked and you should contact Royal Mail directly if you do not receive your box within a standard time. To guarantee delivery, we recommend your parcel to be sent to an address where there will be someone to receive it between 9am-5pm. We will endeavour to get your order to you as soon as possible. 

International Shipping

We offer worldwide shipping. Please see our shipping options in the cart during checkout for further details on pricing. 

All our orders are packed in our Edinburgh unit to a high standard. The items are processed within 2 working days and then shipped via DHL Express. You can read more about our shipping policy here.

Please note we do not accept responsibility for delays in delivery due to unforeseen circumstances eg; strikes, health crisis, weather, flight delays, pandemic etc. 

We will not be responsible for any other losses, costs, damages or charges that you may suffer if we delay in supplying or can not supply our products.

We can not accept responsibility for delays in delivery due to customs activities in respective countries, neither we nor the delivery company have control of this. Please note each country has different customs clearance levels. Although most countries accept all imports some items may be refused entry to a specific country.

Every effort will be made to have your products delivered as quickly and as safely as possible but specific delivery times or dates cannot be guaranteed and may take longer.

If your recipient is not available to accept their item when we attempt delivery, the following may happen:

- A notification of an attempted delivery will be left at the address by the courier
- It will then be the responsibility of the recipient to collect the package from the nearest available post office or sorting office, specified on the notification left at the address
- If no attempt is made to collect the package, it will be returned to the sender and is non-refundable
- A box may be resent at the customers expense for up to 30 days after receipt

Product Availability

We are committed to ensuring all the contents in your Scot Box is fulfilled as described. However, in the case of a supplier seizing or downsizing production we may not be able to purchase our usual items. If this situation occurs and we can not provide an item, we will replace this with an alternative item of similar type and value. 

Incorrect delivery address / undeliverable parcel

If an incorrect delivery address is provided or a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable, an extra postage charge will apply to send it again.

Refund Policy

All orders are non refundable.  In the event that an item is damaged during the shipping process feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you with any issues. Evidence via email or post of damage will be required. Please contact us at thescotbox-sweets@gmail.com if you have any other queries in relation to refunds.

When purchasing chocolate or confectionery destined for countries with hot climates, this is done at your own risk. Orders containing chocolate and confectionery are sent by postal services or a courier and are not sent in chilled packaging.  

Cancellations

Cancellations are only accepted before the order has been dispatched. If the order has been dispatched prior to cancellation the order will be deemed valid.

Payment

We accept Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Maestro, Paypal, Mastercard, Shop Pay and VISA via Shopify Payments.  The Scot Box reserves the right to amend the price of our products without notice.
